THE LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN HOUSE - GOLDEN, CO

Nestled into a steep mountainside with a jaw-dropping panoramic view of the Colorado Front Range, the Lookout Mountain House captures the spirit of a classic fire watchtower and a treehouse at the same time (without actually attaching to any trees). This tinyhouse serves as a family retreat / guest house, sleeping four: two twin beds in the loft and a queen-size murphy bed that pulls down from the wall on the main level. Electricity, insulation, heat, wifi, and a composting toilet make it a fully functioning four-season accommodation! Entry to the house flows naturally down a rock outcropping, bridging out around two trees before reaching the front door. Stepping out through the french doors on the back, the mountainside falls out below you as the deck soars above the valley, giving way to an unbelievable 180 degree view. The sun sets over the Rocky Mountains to the west, and the city of Golden twinkles below to the east. A trap door in the floor of the house leads to a giant enclosed net feature below deck, ready for the kids’ summertime slumber party campouts. And if you’re ready for an adventure, an epic mountainside swing hangs from a projecting timber below - not for the faint of heart! Quality materials and finishes were used throughout, including a unique exterior cladding done from reclaimed Wyoming snow fence.
